Workforce Funding Application

Completion of this form will allow SPSCC Workforce staff to consider you for eligibility for the Worker Retraining, BFET, WorkFirst, and Opportunity Grant programs. These programs provide financial support to help connect students with a path into a high-demand, high-wage career. Workforce funding is not meant to replace federal or state financial aid; you should still plan to submit your FAFSA and/or WASFA.

Worker Retraining

To determine your possible eligibility for the Worker Retraining program, please answer "Yes" or "No" to each of the questions below:

Are you a Military Veteran honorably discharged within the past 48 months (4 years)?
Are you active duty military with an official separation notice?
Are you currently receiving Unemployment?
Are you eligible for Unemployment?
Have you exhausted Unemployment Benefits within the past 48 months (4 years)?
Are you currently working, but have received written notice of a layoff?
Are you unemployed or underemployed after having been dependent on another family member’s income, but no longer supported by that income due to separation, divorce, death, or permanent disability of the main wage-earner (within the past 48 months or 4 years)?
Were you self-employed, but are now unemployed due to economic factors?
Are you a vulnerable worker (at risk of being unemployed) who meets two of the following three requirements?
  • Your job is not in demand (as defined by the region demand/decline list)
  • You do not have 45 college credits
  • You must upgrade your skills to remain employed in your current job

Basic Food Employment and Training

To determine your possible eligibility for Basic Food Employment and Training (BFET), please answer the question below:
Are you currently receiving Basic Food (food stamps, SNAP, or EBT) through the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS)?

I give permission for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and South Puget Sound Community College to use and share confidential information about me (except as limited below) as necessary for Employment and Training (E&T) activities as required by the Basic Food E&T (BFET) program. This consent is valid for a maximum of three years from the date signed, unless I withdraw or change my consent in writing. This consent DOES NOT permit sharing of sensitive information about my mental health, chemical dependency, HIV/AIDS and STD test results, diagnosis or treatment. I understand that I must fill out a separately approved consent form if I am under 18 years of age, I want to further limit information shared about me, someone else is representing me in this matter, or I want to allow sharing of sensitive information about my mental health, chemical dependency, HIV/AIDS and STD test results, diagnosis or treatment.”
